Hello I’m Michiko and I love Origami! I feel a very close attachment to my art because my mother was born in Hiroshima and was an atomic bomb survivor after World War II. Origami Peace cranes are known for being the symbol of Peace in Hiroshima and throughout the world.
My mother never talked much about her life after the war, but we were raised from a very young age to live each day fully, to appreciate the simple things in life and to love and support family, friends and neighbors with a kind and humble heart.
Family is center in traditional and modern Japanese culture and I’ve carried that value with me throughout my life. Now, I’m a mom of two active kids and I consider my Church friends and community my family since most all of my family lives in Japan.
I offer private origami instructions, parties, events, meeting or whatever else you might have in mind that an origami artist could perform. Please contact me if you are curious and interested about Origami and Japanese culture.
